What Is It?
Picoway is a multi application picosecond laser offering three wavelengths (532nm, 785nm, 1064nm) for removal of multi-colour tattoos, recalcitrant tattoos and benign pigmented lesions on any skin type.
What is Picoway’s Mode of Action?
Picoway’s unique mode of action is based on delivering ultra-short picosecond pulses (picosecond means trillionths of a second) of energy to the tissue. These bursts of energy create a photo-mechanical impact which breaks up tattoo ink or pigmentation into smaller, more easily eliminated particles.
What are Picoway Advantages?
- Triple wavelengths – 532nm, 785nm and 1064nm wavelengths in one system.
- Treats the widest range of tattoos – three wavelengths to treat most tattoo colours and types, including recalcitrant tattoos.
- Treats dermal and epidermal pigmented lesions – large spot size to enable deep penetration when needed.
- Highest peak power for effective energy over the broadest range of spot sizes.
- Shortest picosecond pulses – the Picoway has the shortest pulse duration – 300 – 400 picoseconds (40% shorter than any other picosecond laser on the market) to break up in the smallest particles, minimising risks of side-effects.
PICOWAY – The Clear Solution for Tattoo Removal
Picoway is the latest solution for the removal of tattoos. This break-through picosecond technology shatters the tattoo, with pulses in a trillionth of a second into miniscule particles.
Why Picoway Treatments?
- Removal of unwanted tattoos – even those with multi-coloured inks and resistant tattoos treated previously with traditional lasers.
- Clearance and fewer treatments.
- Better results.
- Less discomfort.
How Does Picoway Work?
Laser light is targeted at colours matching the specific wavelength in ultra-short picosecond pulses. These pulses shatter the tattoo ink into very small particles which are eliminated by the body’s natural processes. The Picoway laser emits less energy than traditional lasers, providing a safe and more comfortable treatment, with fewer side-effects.
How Many Picoway Treatments will be Needed?
The effectiveness of the treatment depends on factors such as age, location, depth, size and type of tattoo. All tattoos will require several treatments for optimal results.
Does the Picoway Treatment Hurt?
The degree of discomfort varies with each person, depending on the nature and location of the tattoo on the body.
What Should you Expect and What Precautions Should be Taken During this Process?
During treatment, a chilled air blower may be used. A topical anaesthetic cream may be applied prior to treatment, and a dressing may be applied after treatment depending on the area treated.
Are Picoway Treatments Safe and are there any Side-Effects?
Picoway treatments selectively treat the tattoo while leaving surrounding skin undamaged. Less heat is generated than traditional lasers (Q-switched), which leads to a safer treatment, with few side-effects.
After treatments, patients may experience temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin around the treatment site. Some patients may also experience a temporary lightening of the skin following treatment. The skin will typically resolve to a normal skin tone.
PICOWAY – Providing Solutions for Pigment Removal
Picoway is the latest and most advanced laser solution for benign pigmentation such as freckles, age spots, lentigines, melasma, Naevus-of-ota, Café-au-lait and more. This breakthrough technology uses the shortest laser pulse on the marked, measured in picoseconds (trillionths of a second) to break down the pigment into the smallest particles.
How Does Picoway Work for Pigmentation?
Laser light is targeted at unwanted pigment in ultra-short picosecond pulses, shattering pigment into very tiny particles which are then easily eliminated by the body’s natural processes. The Picoway laser emits less energy than traditional lasers, providing a safer, more comfortable treatment, with fewer side-effects.
What Should I Expect and What Precautions should be Taken Throughout this Process?
During your first visit, your skin’s reaction to the laser will be tested to determine the most effective treatment.
Immediately following treatment, a cold compress may be applied to soothe the treated area and Vaseline ointment may be recommended to apply to the site over the following few days, taking care to avoid scrubbing the area or using abrasive skin cleansers.
How Many Treatments Will I Require for Pigmentation?
The effectiveness of the treatment depends on many factors, such as the location, depth, size and type of pigmentation. Some lesions will require several treatments for optimal results, where some can be resolved in a single treatment.
Are Picoway Treatments Safe for Pigmentation and are there any Side-Effects?
Picoway treatments selectively treat the melanin pigmentation while leaving surrounding skin undamaged. After treatments, patients will experience temporary discoloration or reddening of the skin around the treatment site. Some patients may also experience temporary lightening or darkening of the skin for a few months following treatment. The skin will typically resolve to normal pigmentation colour.
