What Is It?
In a New Zealand first, the Skin Specialist Centre offers the most powerful PicoSecond laser tattoo removal service. The award winning PicoWay laser tattoo removal device by Syneron-Candela is the first and only in New Zealand. If you are looking to have a tattoo you no longer want removed in the least amount of time and with the least amount of pain, put your trust in the Skin Specialist Centre and the PicoWay.
With the PicoWay, we can treat all skin types (light to dark) and remove your tattoo in under half the time of a traditional Q-Switch ND:Yag tattoo removal machine. Give us a call or book a free laser tattoo removal consultation to find out how.
The PicoWay – The Worlds’ Most Powerful PicoSecond Device
The PicoWay by Syneron-Candela is a true PicoSecond tattoo removal device. Featuring three wavelengths to target all colours, it is safe to use on all skin types (including dark skin). The PicoWay allows the Skin Specialist Centre to remove your tattoo in the shortest possible time with shorter recovery time and less time between tattoo removal sessions (2-4 weeks for the PicoWay vs 6-10 weeks between tattoo removal sessions for alternative devices).
PicoSure and PicoWay
There are technically two Picosecond machines in the world. The PicoSure was the first PicoSecond device. The Skin Specialist Centre decided to invest in the PicoWay technology rather than the PicoSure due to the PicoWay’s new third wavelength and much higher power output for superior results.
Key Differences Between PicoSecond and NanoSecond Tattoo Removal?
A Picosecond pulse is one trillionth of a second vs a Nanosecond pulse which is one billionth of a second. The PicoWay uses the much faster Picosecond pulse to shatter tattoo ink into tiny particles that can easily be removed by your body’s natural immune response.
Where the PicoWay stands head and shoulders above all other tattoo removal devices is in the laser energy used. The PicoWay is majority photoacoustic effect which is sound energy. Because of the lack of photothermal or heat from the PicoWay, there is little to no damage to the top layer of your skin (epidermis), giving you a quicker recovery time and shorter time between tattoo removal sessions. Nanosecond lasers have proportionally more photothermal effect which heats the pigment and surrounding tissue which can cause complications on darker skin types.
The PicoWay will remove your tattoo faster. We compare the same number of tattoo removal sessions with a PicoWay and a Q-Switch laser below:
* Q-Switch – 10 sessions with 8 weeks between sessions, your tattoo removal would take 80 weeks – just over one and a half years!
* PicoWay – 10 sessions with 3 weeks between sessions, your tattoo removal would take 30 weeks – just over half a year.
There’s a significant difference when you look at the total time to remove a tattoo.
There are a number of Nanosecond devices on the market, also called a Q-Switch ND:YAG:
* Quanta Q-Plus C, Q-Switch laser
* RevLite Q-Switch, laser
* Astanza Q-Switch, laser
* Pastelle Q-Switch laser
* Palomar Q-YAG 5 laser
* Candela ATV Q-Switch laser
Disadvantages of a Q-switch laser, due mainly to the increased potential for tissue damage from the photothermal effect include:
1) Longer recovery time
2) Potential for scarring
3) Painful treatments
4) Inability to treat all tattoo ink colours
